Hello, This is your captain speaking…
From the dawn of creation, from the time man first crawled from the muck of the sea, a question has plagued our thoughts: Why do we blog? Why do humans have the insatiable desire to let their thoughts and opinions ring throughout the world?
I have watched the debate from the sidelines. Until now. For now, I feel that I have an answer.
We blog because we can.
First, it was the mountain, then it was the dais, then the podium, then the milk-crate. Now, it is the blog. In a fifty years, the blog as a form of mass communication will seem as outdated to us as a touch-tone phone would to a caveman. Just think- if James K. Polk lived in today’s world, instead of acting as a Napoleon of the stump speech, he would be the Napoleon of the blog.
But why must I pollute the already clogged blogosphere with yet another outlet for my own ostentatious beliefs?
I blog because I can.
And so blog I will. I shall write about technology, politics, and youth culture. I will ponder the essence of style- and I will, like any great blogger, ascribe great meaning to ludicrously long personal anecdotes of little or no significance to the reader.
It’s good to be a blogger.
